Tom Murray, a member S.O.U.L., was elected as SS Peter and Paul’s representative on the newly formed Local Pastoral Area team. Congratulations Tom! Tom will ensure that the views of all parishioners are fully represented in L.P.A. meetings, discussions and decisions.
“Consultation Process!” Many of you who responded (though not all!) have received a letter from Mgr McManus thanking you for taking part in the “Consultation Process”. Our argument remains that a genuine Consultation was never held, and that the information in the Option Paper was biased, incorrect and misleading.
V.A.T. You may recall that the Options Paper stated that VAT was not recoverable on the maintenance works need to the church. Our further research has now provided independent opinion from five responsible sources that VAT should be recoverable for approved repairs to Listed Places of Worship, irrespective of the religion. SS Peter and Paul’s is Grade II listed. This could reduce the cost of repairs by over £100,000.
